There are two options that can be used to repair damaged CAD drawings. It is good practice to save a copy of the damaged drawing before trying to repair it. Severely damaged drawings may be unrecoverable.
Repair open drawings
The damaged drawing database may contain invalid information, such as layer indexes. Therefore, repairing may fix those by replacing the invalid values with the default values. Depending on the object and error type, sometimes the only possibility is to remove the damaged object.
If these kind of errors are detected while opening the drawing the FIX command will be executed automatically.
Enter the command FIX and press Enter.
Repair drawings on disk
If a drawing file fails to open it should be repaired using the RECOVER command.

Select File > Open > Open and recover.
- Select the drawing file to recover.
