With this function, you can set drawing limits and scale. In addition, you can draw a frame and as many viewports as you need.

Although the drawing area is almost infinite, designers usually draw into a limited area. You can set the lower left corner and the upper right corner coordinates to limit the area that you are drawing on. You can still draw outside of the area as well. The applications include functions to set the drawing limits and the drawing scale.

Always draw using real measures. Usually, one drawing unit in the program represents one millimeter. Therefore, draw a 15 meter long wall as 15 000 drawing units long. This makes it possible to print the drawing in various scales if necessary.

The drawing scale setting helps in creating drawings that are printed in bigger scales. This setting is saved in the drawing (in the system variable SCALE). The scale affects the text size and linetypes. If the drawing scale is 1:10 and you set the text size to 5, the program draws the text as size 50 according to the drawing scale. The drawing scale also scales the size of parts in linetypes, such as in the dashed linetype.

So, if you draw a 20 meter long wall and view the drawing from afar, dashed linetypes look like straight lines and any text is too small to read. If you set a suitable scale, such as 1:50, you can see dashed lines properly and be able to read the text.

Important: Always use the program's own function to change the drawing scale if it has one. The function may set other settings as well, such as the dimension scale factor.

Sheet

Use standard sheets – Select a size from the list. You can add/delete sheet sizes by clicking Sheets. These sizes are stored to a text file Arkit.lue (in application folder).

Use printer sheets – Select printer and printer's paper. The list of papers depends on the printer / print configuration.

Sheet settings

Frame – Select to draw the frame either with a single line or fold marks, or not at all.

Drawing scaleSelect the drawing scale from the list, or enter values into the fields.

Set lower left corner – Select this if you want the program to ask you to enter the lower left corner of the sheet.

Set limits – Select this if you want to set the drawing limits according to the paper size. This function is disabled in print mode.

Sheets fixed corner (only available when editing) – When editing the drawing area you can select which lower corner is kept at its place (left or right). This corner point stays in the current location even if the drawing frame size increases or decreases.

Adding sheets to paper space

If this option is selected, this function will create defined number of drawing frames and viewports to paper space (print mode). You can select the layout whereto create frames and set the gap between them. If selected, no frame will be drawn to design mode.

If you check Add viewports to sheets the function creates a viewport in every frame. You can set margins for viewports. You can also set the print status for the viewport layer do not print.

Frame will by default be drawn on a layer named FRAME and viewports on a layer named VIEWPORTS. If you are using some application, the function will get the correct layer from the application.
