Save your own symbols
Cabinet Layout tab > Devices group > Symbols menu > Save user symbol
With this function, you can create your own symbols.
Important: The create symbol functions of CADMATIC Draw should not be used with symbols related to the Electrical application.
Do the following:

Select objects to include in the symbol to be saved. If the selected objects include an ID attribute (E_ID), continue from step 3.

If the selected objects do not include an ID attribute (E_ID), indicate insertion point for it.

Indicate symbol's insertion point. The Save symbol dialog opens.

Define the following:
- Symbol – Name of the symbol to be saved. By default, the letters SO are included in the symbol name but you can define the name any way you like.
- Define symbol insertion point – Define the insertion point.
- Symbol data
- Symbol type – Based on the symbol type, the application functions recognize which kind of Electrical symbol it is. By default, the type is Device.
- Select symbol type – Define one or more sub types for the symbol type.
- Attributes – Every symbol needs at least the E_ID attribute (ID). Add an attribute by clicking Add, selecting the attribute and inserting the default value if needed. Then indicate attribute's insertion point.
- Add to icon menu
- Icon menu to where the symbol will be saved – Select icon menu from the drop-down menu.
- Tiptext of the symbol button – The text from this field is shown as a tool tip, when the mouse pointer is on the symbol button. If the symbol to be inserted does not have a description, the description will be taken from this field.
- Save icon area by yourself – Outline area of the symbol shown in the icon menu.

Drawing and editing – You can make simple edits to symbol graphics by selecting the function from the drop-down menu and clicking Run. When the action is completed, the function will return back to the symbol saving dialog automatically.
