Set color

Home tab > Properties group >  (Color)

The program draws each object in a certain color. The color affects the line weight when you print the drawing in black and white or the line color when you print the drawing in color. You can also define line weight for printing in the settings. See Edit line weight.

You can change the color in the following ways:

  • Select Tools > Color. The Color dialog opens, and you can select the color.

  • Select the color in the Properties dialog.

  • Select the color on the Basic 1 toolbar.

  • Double-click an existing object and select the new color in the opening dialog.

You can select one of the default colors (1–9), your own color, symbol color, or layer color.

By symbol color

When you are creating a symbol, select SYMBOL as the color so that you can change the color of the symbol later. If you draw the symbol in a set color, changing the color later does not affect the symbol. The number of the SYMBOL color is 0.

By layer color

When you want to assign a certain color to elements that are on the same layer, select LAYER as the color when you are drawing the elements. When you change the layer color, the color of the elements changes automatically. The number of the LAYER color is 256.

Note: If you have set the display colors to Layer, the program shows all objects in their layer colors despite their assigned colors. For more information, see Set display colors.

RGB colors

In addition to basic 256 color numbers also RGB (Red-Green-Blue) colors can be used in a drawing. A RGB color is defined by three numbers, for example white color is 255,255,255. Millions of colors can be defined using RGB syntax.

RGB color definition includes setting the hue, saturation and luminosity of a color.

RGB colors are mainly meant to be used by applications and for 3D. You should use it for example as color of 3D surfaces. Selecting RGB colors can be made by clicking RGB colors.

You can not define printing settings for RGB colors individually. RGB colors are always printed with the thinnest lineweigth (usually 0.01 mm). Color setting for all RGB colors in drawing can be made in Print style table. It can be set to Black, Grayscale or Color (default).
