Manage cable types

Electrical tab > Management group > Cable types

With this function, you can add new cable types to the project. You can filter and select cable types from the cable database or import them from another project.

You can use a global filter to filter the cables. You can delete the filter values by clicking the button next to the field.

Cable types can be added to the project from application's Standard databases or user's Shared databases. Shared database can be transferred to shared location in an multi-user environment. Shared database folder is set in Electrical DB settings.

Standard databases tab

The cables listed on the Standard databases tab come with the application and are not editable. To edit standard cables, you must create copies of them to the Shared databases tab.

  • Open – Open the desired cable type's properties for viewing.

  • Copy to shared – Copy the cable to the Shared databases tab for editing.

  • Add to project – Add the selected cable type to the project. Alternatively, double-click the cable type.

  • Update selected – Update the cable type settings from the Shared databases to cable types that have been added to the project.

  • New – Create a new cable type to the project.

  • Edit – Edit the selected cable type.

  • Copy to shared – Create a copy of the cable.

  • Remove – Remove the cable type.

  • Add to project – Add the selected cable type to the project. Alternatively, double-click the cable type.

  • Update selected – Update the cable type settings to cable types that have been added to the project.

  • Import – Import cable types to the users Shared databases.

Project's cable types

For project, there are Default cabletypes and Default project cabletypes tabs.

  • New – Create a new cable type that is only available in the current project.

  • Edit – Edit the selected cable type in the project.

  • Update selected – Update modifications from project cable types to actual cables in the project.

  • Remove from the project – Remove the selected cable type from the project.

  • Import to project – Import cable types from another project.

  • Set as default cable type – Add the selected cable type as the default cable type. Default cable types will be automatically available in new projects.
