Upgrading a server installation

When you have an existing eShare server installation, you can run the eShare installer of a newer version release to upgrade your system.

Important: Create backups and save them to a secure location before the upgrade, so that they are available even after the upgrade.

An upgrade installation only updates the server binaries – it does not affect existing user data or user-defined settings.

Before performing an upgrade installation, make sure that eShare users are aware of the server going to be temporarily inaccessible, and that accessing eShare App after the installation will prompt them to upgrade eShare App.

Do the following:

• Launch the Setup.exe file of the new release, and follow the instructions of the wizard to perform an upgrade installation.

Note: Before installing, the installer shows the option Download latest .NET updates, which, when enabled, will during installation download the latest .NET updates, if newer compatible versions have been released after the eShare version was released.
