Assign and manage the function keys and command keys.
Function Keys
It is possible to start a function by using the function keys F1, F2, ..., F12. The Function Keys tab in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog shows a list of the existing assignments of functions to F keys. You can add new assignments, and remove and modify the existing assignments.
Assigning a function to a function key
- Select a function you want to assign from the ribbon menu or use a keyboard shortcut.
- The function path of the chosen function is shown under the list of the function keys in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.
- Select the row of the F key you want to assign the function to. Click Assign to assign the function to the key.
Removing an existing assignment:
Select the row of the F key whose assignment you want to remove, and click Clear.
Re-assigning a function to another function key
- Select the function in the list that you want to re-assign to another function key.
- Press
or
to move the selected function to a higher or to a lower function key.
Exit the function to save your changes.
Note: You can assign functions to keys only if the System Administrator has allowed it. This is done with the Function Key Definition setting in the System Management application, Extra > Customize > Miscellaneous.
Command Keys
It is possible to start a function typing a command in the Dynamic Input command line, which appears when you press Ctrl+Enter in the graphical window.
The Command Keys tab in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog shows a list of the existing assignments of functions to commands (keys). The commands are in alphabetical order. You can add new assignments, and remove and modify the existing assignments.
Adding a new command key
- Select a function you want to assign from the ribbon menu.
- The function path of the chosen function is shown under the list of the function keys in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog
- Type in the command you want to use for the function, and click Add. The new command key is added to the list.
A command key can be one digit or character, or a combination of digits and characters with a maximum string length of 20 digits/characters.
Removing a command key
Select the row of the command that you want to remove, and click Remove.
Modifying a command key
- Select the command in the list that you want to modify.
- Select a new function from the ribbon menu, or type in a new command.
- Click Modify.
