Norms Directory
Extra > Norms Directory
This function is used for norms directories for the following purposes:
- To set the directory or directories where settings are saved to.
- To set an "update norms" signal for workstations with decentral norms.
- To switch to another central norms directory.
Saving settings to multiple norms directories
Save settings to – When a setting stored in the current norms directory is modified, it is possible to store the modified setting also in other norms directories of the project. Select from the following:
- Current norms directory only – Save settings in to the current norms directory only.
- Current and enabled norms – Save settings to the current norms directory and to the other enabled norms directories, shown in the Norms Directory dialog.
Note: The current setting value displayed by any function is always the one stored in the current norms directory. Support for multiple norms directories only applies to saving or deleting settings.
Automatic notification on first save – If a setting is about to be stored in multiple norms directories, a message is displayed to remind the user of this. This prevents the user from accidentally overwriting a setting in multiple norms directories.
- The user can continue and use all enabled norms, or only use the current norms directory. With the first option it is possible to prevent the message from being displayed again during the current session in the System Management application.
- However, after changing the Save settings to setting, the message will be shown again on the next save.
Current norms - central vs. decentral
The name of the current norms directory is defined by the block group that the current section belongs to. By default, a central norms directory that is located in <project>\norms is used.
- For central norms, the value of %ncgnorms% is ..\norms\<norms directory name>.
However, it is possible to use a so called decentral norms directory. In this case a user-dependent directory setting is used (setting %normsdir% in %hullhome%\nupashull\windowsNT\startup\nchull.ini).
- For decentral norms, the value of %ncgnorms% is %normsdir%\<project>\<norms directory name>.
Note: While in the System Management application, the central norms directory is used even if a decentral norms directory is defined in the setup of CADMATIC Hull.
If the contents of the central norms directory is modified, decentral norms directories are not updated accordingly automatically. To update a workstation's decentral norms directory, the workstation must synchronize with the corresponding central norms directory.
The date and time of the latest update is displayed in the Norms Directory dialog ("N/A" is displayed if this information is not available). Use Set new update to inform workstations with decentral norms directories that the central norms directory is modified. This will make the workstations to synchronize their decentral norms directories at specific times.
Setting the current norms directory
The norms directory list in the Norms Directory dialog shows all the available norms directories that are located in the <project>\norms directory.
The current norms directory is highlighted. It is possible to use another norms directory temporarily by selecting it, and clicking Set as current norms.
Note: If another norms directory is set, the previous norms directory setting is restored when the System Management application is closed.
