Free Edge
Production > Plate Cutting Data > Free Edge
Set the threshold values for including markings on the DXF file for parts' free edges, that is, edges that do not connect with any other part. A free edge is defined as and edge that does not have a bevel. The threshold values define the minimum length that a part edge must have to get a marking.
It is possible to have markings for the free edge start, center, and end. The marking symbols are user-defined models, and must be placed in the models directory %ncgmodellen%:
-
free_edge_start.mod
-
free_edge_center.mod
-
free_edge_end.mod
If any of the models exist, the system will perform free edge detection, and place the symbol(s) in the DXF file.
Exceptions: An edge without a bevel is not considered free and will not get marking(s) in the following cases.
-
The edge is a snipe.
-
The edge is the top of a profile or shell frame of other type than flatbar.
Free Edge Min Length
Set the minimum length that the free edge must have to get a marking or markings (depending on which marking symbol models exist).
If the edge length is smaller than the threshold value, no symbol is placed.
The edge length is measured along the whole edge contour, including reductions such as cutouts and holes.
Free Edge Min Length Centre
Set the minimum length that the free edge must have to get the centre marking (if the marking symbol exists).
Free edges with a length smaller than this value do not get a centre model.
The edge length is measured along the whole edge contour, including reductions such as cutouts and holes.
