Use Rules
Logistics > Process And Job Codes > Use Rules
These settings can be used to modify the logistical information of parts. Each setting line links a logistical field to a rule so that the value of the logistical field is determined according to the rule.
Each setting line consist of a logistical field in the Logistical field column and a rule in the Rule description column.
Important: The rules are only applied when the By Rules option is selected in the Production > Logistics > Create Process Codes function, and then running the function.
By default no setting lines are defined, and the By Rules option in the Create Process Codes function is disabled. The option becomes available when at least one setting line is defined.
Defining the setting lines
A setting line consists of a Logistical field and a Rule description. A maximum of 16 setting lines can be defined. Each line must have both Logistical field and Rule description defined, or the line must be left empty.
-
The available logistical fields are the logistical database fields defined in System Management > Logistics > Logistical Database Layout. A logistical field can only be used once (in one line only).
-
The available rule descriptions are logistical rules defined in System Management > Logistics > Rule Definitions. A rule description can be used multiple times (in multiple lines, i.e. with several logistical fields).
Do the following:
-
In Logistical field, select a logistical field from the drop-down menu.
-
In Rule description, select a rule from the drop-down menu.
-
Repeat in as many lines as necessary.
-
Click OK once you have defined all the necessary lines.
To modify a setting line, select the line and make the necessary changes.
To clear a line, select the line and click Reset row. This clears both columns of the selected line.
Note: If a logistical field or a rule that is used in a setting line is deleted (in the logistical database layout or rule definitions, respectively), the system deletes the setting line.
Norms and norms configurations
The Use Rules settings are saved to the currently active project norms and the currently active norms configuration within the active norms. Therefore it is possible to define different settings for different norms and norms configurations.
-
The currently active norms directory can be set in System Management > Extra > Norms Directory.
-
The currently active norms configuration can be set in System Management > Extra > Norms Configurations.
