Copying the Hull data folder to a new project
Copying a big Hull project without any compression over a network is very inefficient, but the Manage Project > Add Hull Data function in the CADMATIC Desktop can be used to copy data more efficiently. The following procedure is useful especially when the COS project is on a different server than the old HDX project. Copying a single big file over a network is a lot more efficient than copying many small files.
-
Compress the Hull data folder (for example a .zip file).
-
Copy the compressed file to a temporary location on the new server.
-
On the new server, unpack the Hull project data into the Hull subfolder of the COS project.
Important: The Hull folder must be a direct subfolder of the COS project folder (that has the .pms extension) alongside the Site folder.
-
Open the CADMATIC Desktop tool, and start the function Object > Manage Project.
-
If you have not created a workspace yet, you will be asked to do so now.
-
Start the function Add Hull Data.
-
Select or create a COS user that is used by the HCA to contact COS.
-
Select Use Hull project data that is manually added to the Hull folder as the Hull data source.
This option tells the system that the data is already put in place, and no additional copying is necessary.
-
Click OK.
The system will now integrate the Hull data.
