Publishing Profile Sketches to eShare

You can publish profile sketches and profile list sketches from distributed CADMATIC Hull projects to CADMATIC eShare.

Note: Existing profile sketches and profile list sketches must be recreated with the Production > Production Information function before publishing to eShare. If this is not done, the sketches will not be available for publishing. Recreating the sketches generates a PDF file of each sketch, as well as the proper metadata and linkdata for eShare. For creating the sketches, make the selections shown in the Create Production Information dialog shown in the Prerequisites.

After the documents have been created or recreated in Hull and published, the following data is sent to COS:

  • The document itself as a PDF file.

  • Document metadata including a list of key values defining the (user-defined) properties of the document. Metadata is created for each field in the assembly sketch layout. If the layout makes use of a line of the profile totals report, the field name for the metadata is taken from the totals report. Also the names of the profile levels are added as metadata. The metadata can be used to find and categorize the document (when creating your own hierarchy in eShare, for example).

  • Document link data, consisting of a list of areas (boxes) on the document and reference links to parts in the 3D model. Link data is generated for each labeled part or group of parts (assembly). The reference links also work when adding the sketch to a sheet drawing.

Once a new publication is stored in the COS database, Plant Modeller Service sends the new publication to the eShare web service, which in turn stores the data in its own format in an SQL project database dedicated to the project.

Prerequisites

  • The export from Hull to eShare has been set up properly. See Setting up the Export.

  • The Hull project is a COS (distributed) project.

  • The sketch to be published has been created or recreated with the Production > Production Information function.

Note: If a PDF plotter is configured for the project to automatically create a PDF file when creating a sketch, it is strongly advised to disable the plotter as the PDF file generated in the sketch creation is of higher quality. Disabling the PDF plotter can be done in System Management > Production > Sketch Output Format > Settings by setting Publication Settings to None.

To publish, do the following:

  1. Check out the containing block.

  2. Publish the sketches to eShare as follows:

    1. Select File > Manage Publications. The Manage Publications dialog opens.

    2. The focus is on the currently active block. Select another block group or block from the pane on the left if needed. The documents matching the selected item are shown in the Publications pane. For each document, all the available revisions from oldest to newest and their latest state are shown. The possible COS states are:

      • Up to date – All available revisions have been published to COS and the document matches with what is in COS database.

      • New – The document is new and has never been published to COS.

      • Out of date – The document has been edited locally and the latest revision has not been published yet.

      • Deleted – The document has been published to COS before, and has been deleted from the Hull project directory. Previously published documents are not automatically deleted from COS. To delete a document from COS, select it, and click Publish.

    3. Select the desired documents. The corresponding attributes are shown in the pane below.

      • If you select one document and the containing block is not checked out or the document has no revisions, Publish will be disabled.

      • If you select multiple documents and at least one of them can be published, Publish will be enabled.

    4. Click Publish. If you selected multiple documents, the ones with no revisions and the ones in blocks that are not checked out will be silently skipped.

During the next area update, Plant Modeller Service will detect the new publications, and synchronize the data with eShare.
