Grids

A grid is a two-dimensional structure made up of a series of intersecting vertical and horizontal axes, used as a coordinate system to which construction items can be related.

Grids are topological in the sense that they can be modified after they have been initially defined, and then by recalculating of all the construction items in the block everything adapts to the new grid values.

CADMATIC Hull has four grid types (coordinate systems):

  • Length (frame coordinates)
  • Width
  • Height
  • Arbitrary (slanted)

An unlimited number of each type of grid can be defined.

Grids are defined on project level.

Note: Every vessel uses a special grid in length direction, known as the frame coordinate list. This grid is inherited from the shape database and it cannot be modified.
