Face plates

Face plates can be created on plates and in holes.

  • Face plates on plates can be attached to multiple plates, in which case one of the plates is the main plate that the face plate belongs to.
  • Face plates in holes are created either in arbitrary or standard holes.
  • Face plates in arbitrary holes can be bent or straight.
  • One, two, or four face plates can be created in a standard hole.
  • A pipe in a hole is also created as a face plate.

Face plates can be modified by changing their properties such as body and thickness direction, and size and type.

  • The relations of face plates can be modified, and face plate end types can be changed.
  • Trimming and extending of face plates and adding extra length is also possible.
  • Face plates can be split and shifted, and some can be rotated.
  • Two face plates can be joined if they meet certain criteria.
  • Gap size can be changed for face plates in holes.
  • Extending and shortening of face plate end relations is possible with some limitations.

Note: The implementation of face plates was changed in CADMATIC Hull 2019T2 to allow face plates on multiple plates. Due to this, the functionality for modifying face plates varies slightly in some cases depending on the Hull version that the face plate was created with (pre-2019T2 or 2019T2 and newer).
Face plate relations are modified differently, for example. Face plate end relations can only be modified if the face plate was created with a pre-2019T2 version of CADMATIC Hull, and only straight face plates created with CADMATIC Hull 2019T2 and newer can be rotated.
These differences and possible limitations are mentioned in the relevant parts of the CADMATIC Hull Help documentation.

Note: To harmonize the end shapes used for normal profiles and face plates, the base line position of the face plate end point has been changed from the moulded line to the base line of the profile in Hull 2019T2.
The face plate specific slanted end type 33 (KOJ) should no longer be used for new face plates, but type 3 (J) should be used instead. Face plates created with CADMATIC Hull 2019T2 and newer using end type 33 should be made to use end type 3, and face plates created with an earlier Hull version using end type 3 should be made to use end type 33. For more information, see Harmonizing the face plate end types.
