Reference surfaces

A reference surface is a flat or curved surface used as a topological reference structure for defining construction items. Reference surfaces are useful when quickly defining the main construction of a ship. Reference surfaces make it possible to modify the constructional design in an easy and flexible way.

Reference surfaces are virtual entities that are not part of the construction. They are used as references to which construction items can be related. A reference surface can be used in all blocks. All construction items related to a reference surface will dynamically follow the changes of the reference surface.

Reference surfaces have some user-defined properties and can be defined statically and parametrically.

When a reference surface is flat, it is commonly referred to as a "reference plane".
