Defining and modifying templates

Templates can be defined using the Template Manager function in the 3D-Contek application. The Template Manager can be started in any orthogonal drawing. A template is attached to the drawing it is created in. Each drawing can have one template attached to it.

Creating a template

Creating a template is done with use of the Template Manager function, and consists of the following steps:

  1. Defining the template base construction
  2. Defining the template children
  3. Defining child properties

Modifying a template

After a template has been created, the drawing it has been created in becomes a mother (base) drawing. It is possible to filter on base drawings when opening a drawing. This is done by selecting the filter type 3D-Contek (3D BASE) at the bottom of the Open dialog.

Modifying a template is also done with the Template Manager function. When the function is started in a drawing with a template already defined in it, the template control panel instantly appears with the template's last defined properties. The properties that can be modified here are described in step 3 of the creation process.

Removing or adding more children and removing or adding more base construction parts is also possible with use of the template control panel.

Renaming a template

A template cannot be renamed independently. The name of a template is based on the drawing name in which the template is created. Changing the name of the drawing means that the template name is also changed.
