Profile or pillar in plan view (B lines)

B lines define the position and the type of presentation of the profile contour lines in plan view (lines of the profile or pillar). The presentation type is either a solid or a dashed line.

The B lines section can be omitted from the type files of standard profile types. If omitted, the standard profile will be presented in the standard way. User defined profiles always require the B lines section in the type file.

A maximum of four lines can be defined. The third and fourth lines are optional. All B lines start with a B, followed by the profile's body line height.

  • The first B line is for the top of the profile. The first value right next to B sets the body line height of the profile for the plan view presentation.
    • By default the height is defined as H1 (database variable for the profile body height).
    • V variables can be used when defining the body line height of profiles and pillars. The system always uses the value of H1 for shell frames.
    • When the value is defined as zero, the system uses the value of H1.
    • For pillars it is possible to use variables with a negative value.
  • The second B line is for the profile base line, so the height is 0.
  • The third and fourth B lines are used for additional contour lines, normally flanges.

Values in B lines

The following values can be used:

  • MS – Profile or pillar seen at its molded side.
  • TS – Profile or pillar seen at its thickness side.
  • MP – Pillar seen at its molded side.
  • TP – Pillar seen at its thickness side.
  • S – A solid line is used.
  • D – A dashed line is used.
