Bolts, nuts, and washers
Bolt Sets can include bolts, nuts, and washers of various sizes. The bolts, nuts, and washers must have dimension tables and catalog parts, and the bolt sets must be assigned to the relevant piping specifications. Based on the given dimensions, the bolt sets are visualized in the 3D model when a user selects a standard component that uses a flanged connection or a flange, and the Connections tab is active in the Properties pane.
Dimension tables
Create Dimension Tables separately for bolts, nuts, and washers. When defining the dimension tables, note the following settings.
-
Geometry Type = DM_GT_AUXCOMP (3)
-
Geometric Shape = No Shape
-
Isometric Drawing = no iso symbol
-
Dimensions – The dimensions are used for both 3D visualization and listings.
- Diameter (for bolts, nuts, and washers)
- Length (for bolts)
- Mass
Catalog parts
Create Catalog Parts separately for bolts, nuts, and washers. When defining the catalog parts, note the following settings.
-
Description, Material, Dimension Format – Enter the values to use in listings.
-
Select Sizes – Add all the part sizes that may be needed in any bolt set.
-
Connection Faces – Choose Auxiliary point.
Piping specifications
Add the required bolt sets, not the individual items within, to the relevant Piping specifications.
When a user is inserting piping parts with flanged connections into the 3D model, the program uses the Bolt information mappings to choose the correct bolt set for each connection.
