Containment
3D Spaces are physical (dimensional) spaces which can be created using CADMATIC Component Modeller or imported from CADMATIC Hull or from third-party applications. The type of a given 3D Space can be set as compartment, fire zone, flooded volume, outfitting area, super block, block, sub-block etc.
Note: Here "containment" means a relationship between a 3D Space and a model object or model group. Plant Modeller allows model objects and model groups to inherit information via containment provided by 3D Spaces.
The Containment Browser tool analyzes the relationships between 3D Spaces and model objects and model groups. Model groups can be, for example, spools, pipe racks, duct spools or duct main documents. In the following text, the term "model object" is used to refer to both model objects and model groups.
Note: We recommend that containments that are on the same level of the hierarchy (for example, two blocks) would not overlap.
Plant Modeller allows model objects to inherit information via containment provided by 3D space objects. These are used to model compartments, fire zones, blocks, sub-blocks etc.
To make model objects inherit information via containment, you need to configure containment types and containment hierarchies from which information can be inherited. Above is a snapshot of one possible configuration in the CADMATIC example project.
