About designing a diagram
In practice, designing a diagram is not a straightforward sequence of actions where steps follow each other in a nice order. For simplicity, however, we assume here that designing is such a step-by-step process.
Our design process consists of the following steps:
-
Topology
-
Insert equipment
-
Route pipe runs
-
Insert armatures into pipe runs
-
Insert instruments and instrument lines
-
-
Systems, Pipelines, and Instrument Tags
-
Make new systems
-
Make new pipelines
-
Make new instrument tags
-
Assign components to each of the above
-
-
Modifying the Database Entries of Objects
-
Add position ID and other data to equipment
-
Add "piping" data to pipe runs and armatures
-
Add position ID and other specific data to armatures
-
-
Labels
-
Add labels for equipment, armatures, and pipelines
-
