Work Requests
Work requests provide a structured way for CADMATIC users to manage design changes and communicate across disciplines. The Work Request Manager tool is available in Plant Modeller, P&ID, and Hull, enabling collaboration between users of these applications.
In a typical scenario, one designer requests a modification from another. Requests are replicated to all replica sites in distributed projects via CADMATIC CoDesigner, similar to other design data. When a new work request is created, all target users are automatically notified of unread requests at the start of their next application session. The reply mechanism allows users to update the request content, change its status, add comments, and attach files. Project managers can also use the tool to communicate with designers.
When opened from Plant Modeller, the Work Request Manager offers additional functionality, such as:
-
Display the target objects in a 3D view of the current model.
-
Attach attributes defined for the 'Work Request' and 'Work Request Reply' COS object types.
-
Create and attach eBrowser model files (.ebmx, .ebm) and markup files (.ebx) that can be viewed by users of all supported applications.
Note: Like other work request attachments, eBrowser files are stored in the COS server's document repository and are available to all target users. However, large volumes of attachment data can significantly increase COS backup size and slow down the backup process.
If the project uses Content Categories, opening the Work Request Manager from Plant Modeller or P&ID allows work requests to be set to display only to authorized users.
