Tips for using eBrowser

Did you know that you can load multiple models in eBrowser? On the top left, select the load button to open a file, or several files at a time. You can open files together, move, and rotate each area if needed, and then save the combined model. You can also open models by dragging the model file into the 3D view.

You can move, rotate, and scale a model to place it in the required position. You can do this, for example, when you want to load multiple model files that have been modeled with different coordinate systems. To move, rotate, or scale a model, right-click the model name in the model tree and select Move/Rotate/Scale Model from the context menu. A dialog opens to define the coordinate transformation.

Once you have opened a model in eBrowser, you can hide some objects if you want, and then save it as a new model that will not include these hidden objects. To do that after clicking save, just select Only Visible Objects option and then click Save.

The licensed version of eBrowser allows you to load two models and compare them with each other. eBrowser detects and visualizes all the differences between the two models. On the Model tab, click the load button , and open the first model. On the Model tab, click the compare button
and open the second model. The models are displayed in the 3D view, and the Differences tab lists the differences with color codes.

You can open point clouds that have scanner position information in a so-called bubble view. Entering the bubble view mode moves the camera to the scanner position and the camera angle is set at 120 degrees. You cannot move the camera, but you can rotate the view around this position and zoom in or out with your mouse wheel. You can open the bubble view of a specific point cloud by either right-clicking the point cloud in the object tree and selecting Show Bubbleview, or by clicking the scanner position marker directly in the 3D view.

To create a new markup, just click on the Markups tab in the bottom left of the screen. Then click on the Create a new markup button in the top left. This opens the Markup Edit Toolbar, which gives you a set of drawing tools to highlight specific aspects of the model with a color selected from the color field. You can add detailed model information by taking measurements, or adding coordinates, and attribute labels to objects.

The Clip Box tab allows you to resize the visible area of the model so that you can easily review all the objects inside a specific block or compartment. Just right-click the object in 3D view you want to define in the clip box and select Fit Clip Box option. You can later adjust the clip box boundaries by moving an individual clipping plane to a different position or setting a specific X, Y, Z coordinate interval.

You can easily change the background of your model. Just click on the Settings button and then the Settings option in the menu. Select the Visualization tab and Select Background Color, and choose the background of your choice from the drop-down menu.

The Orbit Point button lets you set an orbit point by right-clicking the 3D view. A dashed-line marker is displayed at the orbit point, and you can rotate the 3D view around this point until you click the Orbit Point button again to exit orbit mode.

The Navigation Menu button opens a menu that contains commands to navigate the model. For example, if you are not sure which way you are currently facing, you can restore the horizontal alignment, or jump to an isometric view of the model by selecting the option from the context menu.

(eBrowsercan perform customizable collision checks to investigate whether different parts collide with each other, either inside a model or between models. You can run a collision check with default settings on the Model tab to see whether the objects in one node of the object tree collide with other objects. You can do more complex object selections and customize the collision check settings with the Check for Collisions tool.

The Measure button in the main toolbar and the Markup editor toolbar activates or deactivates the measure tool. You can use this tool to measure the distance between two points, the distance and angle between two lines, or the length and angle of a single line. In the toolbar, select Measure to activate the measure tool. Right-click the point from where you want to start measuring. Right-click the target point. The measurement information is shown next to the measurement line and remains on the screen until you start a new measurement or deactivate the measure tool.
