Working with NAPA

Before you can use the integration to NAPA®, you must set up your environment. CADMATIC installation program has the option NAPA Interface. If CADMATIC is already installed without this interface, modify the installation from the Installed apps list of Microsoft Windows. To use the integration successfully, check the correct settings for the NAPA program from the NAPA user manual.

Create NAPA Agent Area from CADMATIC Desktop

After creating the agent, you can do the following:

  • Start the agent in Plant Modeller mode by selecting the icon and then Object > Start Plant Modeller. See NAPA Integration profile.

  • Start the agent by selecting the desktop icon and then Object > Start Napa Agent.

  • Stop the agent by selecting the icon and then Object > Stop Napa Agent.

NAPA Integration profile

When the NAPA Agent area has been created, it must be started as Plant Modeller for the first time to set up the integration profile.

The following message appears.

Define the integration settings.

The profile can be edited later via NAPA Commands in Plant Modeller.

NAPA Commands

If NAPA Integration has been installed, the Tools tab of Plant Modeller includes NAPA connection commands.

  • Request complete hull
  • Request hull in blocks
  • Send outfitting geometry
  • Sync spaces
  • Sync coordinates – Allows reference coordinates of the project to come from NAPA.
  • Edit profile – Allows editing the NAPA integration profile.

Systems in NAPA Integration

NAPA Integration creates the following Systems when Plant Modeller is started. Importing objects from NAPA assigns the objects to these Systems. If some other System is already using one of these IDs when you start using NAPA Integration, integration objects will be assigned to that System, even if it already contains other objects.

Hole Requests in NAPA Integration

Hole requests can be sent to NAPA in a similar way as to CADMATIC Hull, but the request does not automatically appear in the hull plate like it does in CADMATIC Hull integration. The NAPA designer needs to accept the hole request or reject it. Every time a designer sends a hole request to NAPA, the hole request is locked and cannot be edited with Hole Manager until the hole has been given one of the following NAPA statuses: APPROVED, STIFFENED, REJECTED or APPROVED_STO.
