Cabling tab
The Cabling tab of Plant Modeller contains tools for routing cable ways and cables. Cable ways can be open or closed cable trays, channels, or cable ladders.
In Plant Modeller, cable ways are constructed of predefined components. Ladder and channel type cable ways are defined as straight parts, and other parts (bends, risers, branches, reducers, and so on) are modeled as Standard Components. Penetrations, however, are modeled as Equipment.
When routing cable trays, you select the points where the cable way changes direction, and the tool adds suitable parts—straight or bent—to the route. The reference point can be the centerline of the tray or a user-defined point such as a specific corner of the tray. Routing is specification driven, so at least one specification must exist. It is recommended to define a separate specification for each tray type (ladder, channel, and so on) and also for different materials. Note that cable conduits are routed as pipes, and they need a piping specification.
All cable way objects belong to some system and cable way line. The systems must have been defined as cable way systems. The lines in the system can be added as "Cable Way Line", or as "Pipeline" for conduits.
