Insulation in P&ID

When defining a pipeline in P&ID, it is possible to select up to five insulation specifications for the pipeline. After selecting at least one insulation specification, you can select the Insulation Required option to specify that insulation is always required in the given line. See Insert tab on how to define pipelines in P&ID.

If pipes are insulated, you can route piperuns using a connection line type for insulated pipes. Here are some examples of connection line types defined in the CADMATIC example environment:

The following insulation-related fields are required in the PIPELINES database table:

  • InsulationRequired

    This is a SHORT type field with min value 0 (insulation not required) and max value 1 (insulation required), and defined as editable.

  • InsulationSpec1, InsulationSpec2, InsulationSpec3

    These are WSTRING type fields with a maximum length of 39 and defined as editable.
