Dimension table for insulation box

Insulation boxes are used to insulate flanges and valves.

Notes about dimensions:

  • Overlap: specifies how much the insulation box extends over neighboring parts.

  • Gap_bolt: extra gap at bolt side of flange to shorten or lengthen the insulation.

  • Gap_nut: extra gap at non bolt side of the flange to shorten or lengthen the insulation.

If the insulation box dimension table has diameter type dimension, it specifies the outer diameter of the insulation. Otherwise, a wall thickness dimension is assumed to provide thickness. The insulation outer diameter will then be computed from the flange diameter or the insulated neighboring part, depending on which is larger.

Normally insulation boxes for flanges and valves can be specified to have an overlap. When the connection is to a piece of equipment, there should be no overlap. Otherwise, collision control will unnecessarily report a clash.

Geometry type for insulation boxes is DM_GT_2P and connection faces in catalog parts are 'Auxiliary points'.

Note: If a wafer type valve has the same connection types at both ends, then the effect of bolt length to the length of the insulation box, and to the insulation of the neighboring pipe, is taken into account only at the first node.
