About view types

When you are working with point clouds, it is essential that you utilize the different types of views and their manipulation tools properly.

Plant Modeller implements three types of views:

  • Wireframe view (cannot visualize point cloud points)

  • Shaded orthogonal view

  • Shaded perspective view

You can edit view filtering settings to define the visibility of objects per view.

By combining the basic view types with view filtering, Plant Modeller implements some additional view types which are useful when you work with point clouds:

  • Scanner map views. They are shaded or wireframe orthogonal views.

  • Bubble views. They are special, shaded perspective views.

  • Shaded orthogonal views with or without point clouds.

  • Tracking views (also known as shaded orthogonal views) that follow a selected point in a bubble view.

Note: The settings for point cloud activity or inactivity described in Activating and deactivating point clouds only affect normal shaded views, not bubble views or tracking views.
