Navigation example 1

In this example, there is an existing pipe parallel to Y axis. You have to route a pipe which starts leftward and ends perpendicular to the centerline of the existing pipe. Routed pipe is parallel to X axis. You can click to choose the start point freely.

Do the following:

  1. Press Alt+P to start routing a pipe.

  2. Move the cursor to locate the start point.

  3. Left-click or press Space to accept the start point.

  4. Select the specifications for the pipe.

  5. Move the cursor a little bit away from the start point.

  6. Press Shift+R to restore the cursor location back to the original location.

In CADMATIC software, the next point is relative to the current cursor location. If you move the cursor by accident, you can restore it back to the start point by pressing Shift+R.

  7. Press A to lock the direction for the pipe.

  8. Press Right to set the direction parallel to the X axis.

  9. Left-click or press Space to accept the direction.

If you move the cursor now, it only moves horizontally. You can press 5 to lock the direction vertically, but it is not needed for this tutorial.

If both directions are locked, the cursor does not move. To unlock the direction(s), press 5 and/or 6 again.

  10. Press R to define the plane that goes through the connection point of the existing pipe.

Note that pressing R unlocks the cursor, but the direction for the pipe still remains.

  11. Move the cursor near the end of an existing pipe.

  12. Press Q to lock the cursor to the connection point.

  13. Left-click or press Space to accept the point.

  14. Press Right to define the direction for the plane.

  15. Left-click or press Space to accept the direction.

  16. Left-click or press Space to accept the end point and continue routing.
