Step 1. Creating a dimension style

There are many settings that affect to dimensions. These settings are defined in a dimension style. Dimension style is a like a set of settings that a dimension object will follow. Dimension styles are stored in the drawing.

Opening the sample drawing

Open drawing whereto create the dimensions. This sample drawing DimExercise.drw can be found in the folder Samples in User files directory.

Do the following:

  1. Select File > Open > Exercise drawings directory.
  2. Open file DimExercise.

Creating a dimension style

Do the following:

  1. Select Annotate tab > Dimensions group >  (Dimension style).
  2. Click New and enter Dimensions for the name of the style.
  3. Click OK.

Dimension style settings

Define settings for the new dimension style.

Do the following:

  1. Select Lines tab.
  2. Set color to  2 (red).
  3. Move to the tab Text and set the color for the dimension texts to 4 (green).
  4. Close the windows by clicking OK.

Setting dimension style to current dimension style

All dimension objects inherit the dimension style from the current dimension style. Now set the newly added dimension style to current dimension style.

Do the following:

  1. Select the new dimension style from the list and click button Set current.

    2. The current dimension style name is displayed in the upper part of the dialog.

  2. Close the windows by clicking Close.
