Step 1: Drawing area and scale
Usually you want to draw the drawing into a limited area. You can basically set the lower left corner and the upper right corner coordinates to represent the paper you are drawing on. Setting these drawing limits does not prevent drawing outside this area.
When setting the drawing area the drawing scale is usually defined too. Drawing scale is a setting that helps in creating drawings that will be printed in bigger scales. This setting (system variable SCALE) is saved in the drawing. Scale affects on text size and linetypes. The drawing should always be drawn using real measuresand the drawing scale is used to help to print the drawing in different scales.
It is recommended to always set the drawing area and scale before you start drawing anything into a new drawing.
Do the following:
- Create a new drawing by selecting File > New
- Set the drawing area and scale as follows:
- Select Annotate tab > Markup group > Drawing sheet.
- In
dialog, enter the following settings:
- Sheet: A4, portrait: 210 x 297 (use standard sheets)
- Sheet setting: Fold marks
- Drawing scale: 1:20
- Check following settings: Set lower left corner and Set limits
- Click OK. A drawing sheet will created in the drawing.
- When program asks for the insertion point of the sheet enter 300,0 on the command line. Program places the sheet in the point entered.
