Save the floor plan as a DWG file

Let's save the drawing as a DWG file in its own directory.

Typically when saving to DWG, the colors.cnv conversion file is used. This file changes the pen numbers so that the colors in the DWG and DRW drawings remain identical.

Do the following:

  1. Select File > Save as. The Save As dialog opens.

  2. Navigate to [CADMATIC directory]\Samples\Electrical.

  3. Create a new folder called Layout exercise, and open it.

  4. Create a new folder called REF, and open it.

  5. For file type, select AutoCAD 2018 Drawing (*.dwg).

  6. Click Settings. The General settings dialog opens. Check that the following settings below DWG and DFX are selected:

    • The DWG save format is AutoCAD 2018 Drawing.

    • Below Use conversion files, for DWG drawings is selected, and the selected file is colors.cnv.

Return to the directory by clicking OK.

  7. Click Save.
