Save your own symbol

Distribution Board tab > Symbols group > Symbols menu > Save user symbol

With this function, you can create your own symbols for the Distribution Board application. If you want to save Distribution Board schema inputs and outputs, use the Save input/output package functions. For more information, see Save user's input/output package.

Note: Create user symbols for the Electrical sub-applications using the specific user symbol creation functions to ensure that they function properly within the applications.

Do the following:

  1. Plan the graphics of your symbol.

You can explode an existing symbol for the base and edit it. This is also an easy way to get several attributes in your symbol. You can copy or modify those attributes for your purpose.

  2. Select the objects to be saved in the symbol.

  3. Confirm the selection by pressing Enter.

  4. Indicate the insertion point of the symbol. The Save symbol dialog opens.

  5. Enter a name for the symbol.

  6. If you want to insert wiring points to the symbol, do the following:

    1. Below Wiring points, click Define.

    2. Indicate the wiring points on the symbol.

    3. Confirm the points by pressing Enter.

    4. If you want to delete individual wiring points, click Delete, select the points that you want to delete, and press Enter.

    5. If you want to delete all wiring points, click Delete all.

  7. If you want to define some wiring points as cut points, do the following:

    1. Insert at least two wiring points to the symbol by following the instructions in step 6.

    2. Below Cut points, click Define.

    3. Select the first wiring point that defines the cutting line.

    4. Select the second wiring point that defines the cutting line.

  8. Select the symbol type.

  9. Edit the attributes of the symbol.

  10. Enter the tip text of the symbol that is visible when you hover the cursor over the icon in the icon menu.

  11. Select whether you want to show the icon area manually. Otherwise, the program saves the area of the symbol's objects to the icon. This is the area that is visible in the icon menu.

  12. If you want to edit the symbol, select the editing function and click Run.

  13. Click OK.

If you selected to show the icon area manually, the program opens the symbol in a new document tab.

Indicate the two corners of the area of the icon.

The program saves the symbol to the user icon menu. To access the symbol, do the following:

  1. Select Distribution Board > User's icon menus. The Icon menus dialog opens.

  2. Select User symbols.

  3. Click OK. An icon menu opens.

  4. Select the icon on the menu.

  5. Insert the symbol in the drawing.

  6. Stop inserting symbols by pressing Esc.
