Open your own file directory

All your own files i.e. files you can edit are stored in your Windows user profile directory. This means that the files are user-specific even when multiple users use the same computer.

The directory is typically C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Cadmatic\Draw [version number] Eng, although it might vary depending on the operating system and its settings.

Important: Make all edits and file copy operations into the files under your user profile. Files with the same name may also exist in the Application directory, but do not modify those files.

The Application directory and the User files directory are in a sub-directory of a hidden directory. That is why you cannot see them in File Explorer when you use the default directory options. Select File > Directories to access the directories.

If necessary, you can set the hidden directories to be visible in File Explorer.

Do the following:

  1. In File Explorer, select Options.

  2. Select the View tab.

  3. Below Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.

  4. Click OK.
