Coordinates

Tools tab > Drawing settings group > Coordinates, COORD

In the Drafting settings dialog, on the Coordinates tab you can set up the coordinate settings, such as type, angle, and origin. You can open the dialog also by double-clicking the coordinates on the status bar.

Do the following:

  1. For type, select Rectangular or Polar.

  2. Enter the coordinates for the origin. The default coordinates for the origin are (0,0,0). You can also indicate the origin on the drawing by clicking Set <.

  3. Select the angle for the coordinates. The default angle is 0. You can also indicate the angle on the drawing by clicking Set <. You can also rotate the drawing by selecting Set < > Set angle and straighten viewtwist.

    The angle of the coordinates affects features such as the default angle of a symbol.

  4. Select the angle and linear unit.

  5. If necessary, enter the coordinates for the insertion base point of the drawing. You can also indicate the insertion base point by clicking Set <.

  6. Click OK.

Coordinates menu

You can reset the coordinates with the following options from the Coordinates drop-down menu:

  • World coordinate system – The coordinate system is reset to the World Coordinate System.

  • View coordinate system – The coordinate system is set to the current view plane.

  • Object coordinate system – The coordinate system is set to the selected objects plane.

  • Change coordinate – Change the coordinates.

  • Save coordinate – Save the current coordinates to user-defined coordinates.

  • Set origin – Set origin point of coordinates.

  • Zero origin – Zero origin point of coordinates.

  • Set angle – Set angle of coordinates.

You can lock the coordinates when you are entering a point with the following options from the Coordinates drop-down menu:

  • Coordinate lock on x axis – Lock the coordinates on the X axis.

  • Coordinate lock on y axis – Lock the coordinates on the Y axis.

  • Coordinate lock on specified distance – Lock the coordinates to a selected distance from the previously entered point.

  • Coordinate lock on/off – Set the lock on or off.

The coordinate lock is in effect until you enter the next point.

Other settings

Do the following:

  1. Select File > Settings.

  2. If you want to see the current coordinates on the crosshair, select the General tab and select Coordinates on crosshair. For more information, see Define general preferences.

  3. Select the type of the coordinates.

  4. If you want to see a coordinates icon in the lower left corner of the drawing area, select the User interface tab and select Show UCS icon. For more information, see Define user interface settings.

  5. Click OK.
