Set insertion base point

Tools tab > Settings group >  Insertion base point

Base points are used for moving objects or areas. After you have selected the objects that you want to move, you indicate a base point and then a new point which indicates the displacement from the original place.

The base point is important for symbols. When you save a symbol, you determine its base point with which the symbol is inserted into the drawing. You insert the symbol to the drawing by entering the location of the base point.

Each drawing has a defined insertion base point. By default, it is set to coordinates (0,0,0), or the lower left corner.

You can change the insertion base point of the drawing.

Do the following:

  1. Press Left. The INSBASE = dialog opens.

  2. Enter the insertion base point in the format [X coordinate],[Y coordinate],[Z coordinate].

  3. Click OK.

You can set the insertion base point anywhere in the coordinate system.

The insertion base point is stored in the INSBASE system variable.

When you insert a drawing using the Insert or Symbol functions, the program inserts it relative to the drawing's insertion base point.
