Plate Bevel Rules

Construction > Welds/Bevels > Plate Bevel Rules

Define the sets of rules that determine which predefined bevel is used in the following situations:

  • The edges of two plates or shell plates in plan view connect.

  • A plate in plan view and a plate in cross section connect.

  • A plate edge and the shell (hull surface) connect.

In addition, you must define separately which set of rules is used in these three situations.

By default the system uses the following rules:

  • General predefined bevel rule – Defines which set of rules is used for the different connection types.

  • Predefined bevel rule for plates related to plates in plan view – Rules for planar connections.

  • Predefined bevel rule for plates related to plates in section – Rules for non-planar connections.

  • Predefined bevel rule for plates related to the shell – Rules for connections to the shell.

You can select the rule set to view and/or modify from the Description drop-down menu:

For information on how to define the rules, see Plate beveling rules in Weld Management and Traceability.
