Partial replication of Hull objects

With partial replication (also known as filtered replication), you can control which Hull objects are replicated from the main site to the satellite sites. By defining pass boxes, you can allow objects to be replicated. The deny box, in turn, results in the block showing as shadowed in which case it cannot be selected.

The pass and deny boxes need to be defined per project and per site. For instructions on defining the pass and deny boxes, see Enabling partial replication with Model filters.

Important: Partial replication for Hull data is based on the block, not individual Hull Construction Parts. To effectively utilize partial replication for Hull data, make sure that the block areas are correctly defined.

Important: When creating a new project site, define the model filters carefully, as modifying them later is more restricted. Once the new site has started to replicate data, you can still make the allowed area bigger to allow the replica to see more objects than before, but you can no longer make the denied area bigger so that the replica would see fewer objects than before.

In addition to filtering, pass boxes are used for determining the Plant Modeller area. If pass boxes are defined, the Plant Modeller area at the replica site can only be created within one of these boxes.

Therefore, if Outfitting also needs to be designed at the filtered site, the pass and deny boxes need to be considered so that all the Hull Construction Parts are available.

Rules for partial replication:

  • All Hull construction data in a block will always stay together. Therefore, if a block passes, all Hull Construction Parts belonging to that block will also pass and vice versa.

  • If the block area has at least one point in common with a pass box, the block and the Hull Construction Parts belonging to it will be replicated.

  • When a deny box is defined and the block area falls inside it, the block and the Hull Construction Parts will be shadowed. This means that the block exists in the project but it cannot be selected at the satellite site because filtering blocks the data. For shadowed blocks, only the name, number, index, and group name are available.

  • If the deny box is exactly the same as the block area, the block will be shadowed.

  • If the pass box intersects with the block area but the block area is also inside the deny box, the block and the Hull Construction Parts will not be replicated.

  • If the pass box intersects with the block area and the block area is not completely inside the deny box, Hull Construction Parts will be replicated.

Note: Work Breakdown objects are not filtered at all, i.e. all of them are available at the filtered satellite site.
