Moving Part Labels

Existing part labels can be moved with the Part Labeling function.

Note: The part selection method must be set to point selection. Parts selected with line or box selection cannot be moved. See Part Selection Methods in Part Labeling.

Do the following:

  1. Select the part label in the graphical window.

  2. Drag the part label to the desired location, and click the left or right mouse button to place the label.

Tip: Keyboard shortcut z starts the interactive move function with the most recently positioned part label. See Interactive Move.

Function Dependent Options

The following function dependent options (FDOs) appear in the middle of the Hint bar in the label moving mode:

  • FDO 6 changes the current part label type to the type shown in the FDO text.

  • FDO 7 rotates the part label in 90 degree increments counterclockwise.

  • FDO 8 moves the mouse pointer to that connection point of the part label which is nearest to the labeled part. See Connection Points.

  • FDO 9 is used to select which component of the part label model is moved. Press 9 to cycle through the options. The options are as follows:

    • Drag text only – The text included in the part label model, other than the part number, is moved.
    • Drag without text – The drawn components of the part label model and the part number are moved.
    • Drag with position cross – All components of the part label model and the part number attribute symbol are moved.
    • Drag part label – All components of the part label model are moved, but not the part number attribute symbol.
