Refining line definitions

The first four button in the toolbar section of the Table tab help the user to customize the points of the hull lines. The user can add more points to the lines, at intervals defined by the grid they created in the table.

The toolbar allows the user to perform the following actions in relation to the selected cells:

  • Insert point
  • Reset coordinates
  • Remove point
  • Remove all points
  • Show properties

The toolbar is always synchronized with the selection. This means, that the buttons are only enabled if the action can be performed on the selected cell.

The graphical window also stays synchronized with the table: points are added, updated or removed from the drawing when the table is modified and the selected points are always highlighted in the drawing.

Insert point

The user is able to insert hull line points by selecting a cell that has no hull line points and clicking Insert point in the toolbar. You can also select multiple cells simultaneously, but at least one of them has to be without a hull line.

When using the Insert point option, fixed value points will be added to all the selected intersections between the hull lines and the coordinate. These points will not affect the fairing of the final hull lines.

A hull line point at cell [i,j] will be created as fixed-value point at the intersection between the polyline of hull line at row i and the polyline defined at the grid-coordinate on column j. Therefore, one of the dimensions of the hull line point [i,j] will always be the value of the grid coordinate on column j.

Reset coordinates

The Reset coordinates button is enabled when the user has selected one or more cells, and at least one of them corresponds to a hull line point.

When you click the Reset coordinates button, the system will remove the selected points, reevaluates their hull lines and inserts new points at the updated intersection coordinates. These new points still keep the properties of the old ones (that is, fairing specification for all points, and displacement for fixed points).

In case an errors occurs during the reset, a full rollback is performed and the removed points are added back.

Remove point

This button is enabled when the user has selected one or more cells, and at least one of these cells corresponds to an already added fixed point. The first and last points of the hull lines cannot be removed and are excluded from the selection when performing this action.

When you click the 'Remove point' button, points will be removed from the selected intersections. Any information stored in these points (such as bending values in intersection planes) is irreversibly lost when this action is performed.

Remove all points

The Remove all points button is enabled when the user has added at least one fixed point (that is, different than the first or last points) to the table.

When you click the Remove all points button, all the extra points will be removed. The first and last points are never removed. Any information stored in the removed points (such as bending values in intersection planes) are lost irreversibly. This action is equivalent to selecting all cells and performing the 'Remove point' action.

Show properties

Click the Show properties button if you wish to see or change the properties to a point on the hull line. option the property grid appears next to the table with the relevant properties of the selected hull line point.

Go to Adjusting values in the table to learn more about how you can adjust the cells in your table.
