Hull Shape Import

The Shape Import application is a tool for converting shapes to the CADMATIC Hull surface format and importing them to a CADMATIC Hull database. Surfaces and curves from several file formats can be imported. These geometries can be divided into hull groups/layers, and their orientations, names and numbers can be modified if so desired.

Shape Import requires a separate license. With a valid license in place, Shape Import can be started from the Shell, HiLTop or System Management application.

Importing NAPA databases

To import a NAPA database, a valid NAPA license is required. Also, the NAPA Steel import settings in Hull must be set up. This can be done in System Management > Import/Export > NAPA Steel > Import Settings.

Overview

Together with a frame coordinate list, which can be created in the application, the resulting shape can be saved as a CADMATIC Hull database (.hdb). This database is surface-based and can be used inside CADMATIC Hull as a hull database in the same manner as for example a NAPA database. The procedure is as follows:

The 3dm and iges formats are just examples. A single file in another format could also suffice. Note that the quality of the resulting shapes depends on the quality of the imported files.
