Custom Symbol

Many times the symbol for a piece of equipment looks like the device itself. If you need the same symbol often, it is better to create a new Diagram Object Template with new symbol. If you need it only once it is faster to create a new symbol while inserting the object.

How to make a new object with custom symbol

  1. Click the correct "Create" object from the Templates, e.g. Create Vessel. In example project create object can be found from DIN standard.
  2. Create the symbol.
  3. Add node points if needed.
  4. Depending on the settings you are or aren't asked to fill the data in the database card. The format of the generated Position Id depends on the equipment type.

Edit custom symbol

You don't have to be an administrator to edit custom symbol. It is not any library or project object, it exists only in the diagram where you have inserted it. Thus to edit it you have to have the correct diagram open.

  1. Click Modify tab > Edit Custom symbol.
  2. Make the modifications.
  3. To accept, click Done.

Custom symbol can be moved with Modify tab > Move.

Note: The modifications made to the custom symbol are not updated to the possible copies of the symbol. All the copies are independent.
