Step 6: Save drawing in DWG format

All objects are saved in the file when saving into AutoCAD drawing format (dwg), if the chosen saving format is new enough. If you choose to save into older than dwg version 2000/2002 some objects may disappear. Older formats do not support all objects that program uses.

It is also recommended to use conversion files when saving into dwg format.

  1. Select File > Save As.
  2. Type the file name Exercise1 in the file name field.
  3. Select the drawing type AutoCAD 2010 drawing (.dwg) in the type list.

Settings for opening and saving DWG files

  1. Click button Settings.
  2. Check that the conversion file is selected and that the conversion file name is Colors.cnv.
  3. Click Save.
