Add wiring references to several wires

Schematics tab > Markings group > References menu > Wiring reference to several wires

With this function, you can add a wiring reference to the same sheet, another sheet or another drawing. The function marks both ends of the wiring to indicate the location of the wiring reference pair.

The option to wire onto a different sheet can be used when there is a need to present a part of the connection on the next sheet due to the lack of space, for example. In a situation like this, it is still possible to present a full picture of the connections on different sheets.

Do the following:

  1. Indicate the topmost/leftmost line from where to reference to another sheet.

  2. Indicate the bottommost/rightmost line from where to reference to another sheet. The Wiring reference dialog opens.

The Continue on sheet field shows the current sheet. The start sheet is shown between the arrow buttons.

  3. Select the sheet where you want to continue wiring. The button takes you to the next sheet and the button to the previous sheet. You can also select the sheet from the drop-down menu. The sheet is changed in the background according to your selection.

Alternatively, continue wiring in another open drawing by selecting In another file and then the desired drawing from the drop-down menu. This is only possible between open drawings in the same project folder. The function then marks wiring references to both drawings. The reference will contain a marking on the number of the drawing where the wiring is continued. If no drawing number is defined or it cannot be read from the drawing label, the reference will include the name of the drawing file.

  4. Enter free-form descriptions for the reference pair to specify where the wiring comes from and where it is going to.

  5. You can divide the wiring reference to separate rows by using %%013 in the reference text.

  6. If you want to stay on the target sheet after wiring, select Stay on target sheet. Otherwise you will return to the sheet you started from.

  7. Click OK. The application moves to the sheet or drawing you selected.

  8. Indicate the topmost/leftmost line to reference.

  9. Indicate the bottommost/rightmost line to reference.

The marking method of the column depends on which frame option is used. Project settings also include a setting for how to present column addresses.
