Connect I/Os with channels and disconnect them

When connecting I/Os with I/O card channels or disconnecting them, you can select one or more I/Os from the grid. With the help of auxiliary grids on the right side of the screen, you can easily drag and drop the information to the grid.

On the I/O tab, the Channel number column shows the channels available for an I/O card and their connection status. You can also see, whether multiple I/Os have been connected to the same channel.

In the Channel number column, you can also enter a channel that is not on the list.

Connect I/Os with channels

You can connect one or more I/Os at once.

Do the following:

  1. Select the I/O tab.

  2. Open I/O-card channels from the right. You can lock the auxiliary grid to the screen from its top right corner with the button.

  3. Select one or more I/Os to connect.

Tip: To make connecting easier, organize and filter the I/Os first.

  4. Drag the selected I/O channels on the first I/O you want to connect, to the Connection status column, for example. The cells to be connected turn yellow.

  5. Drop the channels, and confirm the connection. The I/Os are now connected.

If a drawing in Schematics already has a channel symbol but no I/O has been connected and the desired kind of I/O is not available, you can create a new I/O and then connect it to the channel by right-clicking the symbol and selecting I/O > Create a new I/O to this channel.

Disconnect I/Os

Do the following:

  1. Select an I/O that has been connected. If an I/O is connected, the Connection status column shows Connected.

  2. Right-click, and select Remove > Disconnect I/O.

Alternatively, select the connections you want to disconnect, open I/O-card channels from the right and drag the Disconnect I/O button on one of the selected rows.
