Create your own 3D symbols

Layout tab > 3D and view group >  3D functions menu >  3D symbol functions menu > Save user 3D symbol

With this function, you can save your own Electrical symbols. You can also use this function to edit symbols.

If you only want to add attributes to an existing symbol or do some simple edits to the symbol graphics, for example, you do not need to explode the symbol before using this function. However, if you want to use all CADMATIC drawing functions when editing the graphics, you need to explode the symbol into basic elements and edit symbol graphics before using this function.

Symbol have to be either ID attribute (E_ID) or REFID attribute (E_REFID). If selected elements doesn't have this kind of attribute, will function insert it to the drawing.

  1. Indicate the symbol's insertion point.

  2. Enter a name for the symbol. It is recommended to name user symbols with prefix SO (e.g. SO_PLUG SOCKET1)./r/nIt is also reasonable to, e.g., make backup copies of user symbol files.

  3. Define wiring points.

  4. Select symbol type.

  5. Select system where symbol will be inserted.

  6. Select scale and angle.

  7. Add attributes if necessary.

  8. Select icon menu where symbol will be saved.

  9. Enter tiptext of symbol button.

  10. Show icon area if necessary. If this not selected will function automatic save icon for symbol.

If selected "Select system on insertion" can user select system every time when inserting this symbol.

Tip: It is recommended to create the symbol in a new drawing and retrieve a symbol from the application menu for a frame.

The program saves the symbol to the user icon menu. To access and insert the symbol, do the following:

  1. From the 3D symbol functions menu, select User 3D symbols. The icon menu with your own 3D symbols opens.

  2. Insert the desired symbol in the drawing by double-clicking it and indicating the insertion point.

  3. Stop inserting symbols by pressing Esc.
