Controls
The bottom section of the Weld Manager dialog contains several controls that influence the behavior of the dialog or the 3D display in Hull Viewer.
- The Highlight selection option is used to easily show the location of the weld, currently selected in the Tree structure, in the 3D model.
- The Check tree button is used to perform a consistency check of all of the welds within the tree structure. Welds should be placed beneath the parts that they weld together and this function verifies that this is true.
- The Color by drop-down list is for specifying which properties or attribute to use to distinguish between different welds in the 3D model. This allows for quick visualization of the properties of the welds. The welds can be colored by: Throat height, Weld type or Weld level. For Throat height and Weld level, the colors are applied on a spectrum from the minimum to the maximum value for easier visualization.
- The Include sub-welds option influences which welds are displayed in the Weld list. When the option is selected, all of the welds beneath the position currently selected in the tree structure are included. When not selected, only direct child and sibling welds of the selected position in the tree structure are listed.
- The Include sub-parts option influences the visibility of parts in the 3D model. When selected, all of the parts below the selected position in the tree are opaque and all other parts are transparent. When not selected, only direct child and sibling parts of the selected position in the tree are opaque.
- The Graphical selection option determines which welds the weld list on the dialog displays. When selected, the list shows the welds that are graphically selected. When not selected, the list shows the welds according to the selected tree structure position.
- Below the Graphical selection option is the search function. The entry box is used to type the name of the weld to search for. The complete name of the weld should be entered in the search, which is not case sensitive. After entering the name, the search is started by either pressing the Enter key or by clicking the
button. The weld will be displayed in the list view if it is found, otherwise, a message will appear to say that the search was unsuccessful.
- The welds that are selected in the list view of the weld manager can be deleted by pressing the Delete key or by clicking the
button on the dialog. A confirmation message appears to ensure that the welds which are to be deleted are correct. If so, the welds are removed from the interface of the Weld Manager, however, they are not deleted from the database yet. Only after clicking the OK button are the welds are actually deleted from the database. Weld lines that have the status ‘Locked’ cannot be deleted.
- The Export button creates a file(s) of the selected assembly in the format specified in the Weld Manager configuration file.
- The OK button saves the changes and closes the dialog.
