Hull Line
Construction > Insert > Hull Line
Create hull lines. Hull lines are mostly defined for determining the boundaries of shell plates. The types of hull lines that can be created are seams, butts, and dimension lines.
The hull line range subset which will contain the hull line needs to be checked out.
See also Adding new hull lines in the Shell Plates Reference Guide.
The active view must be saved before a hull line can be created. If more than one hull group is available for the active drawing, select the desired hull group for the hull line in the Select Hull Group dialog. The dialog shows the hull groups which have been defined while creating the initial view, or while modifying the drawing properties after creation.

Dynamic Input [on / off]: Activate the Dynamic Input for creating fixed hull line points by entering coordinates. Dynamic Input is deactivated by default.
Length and Angle: Switch from the active Coordinates mode to the Length and Angle mode. After switching to the Length and Angle mode this option will be replaced by Coordinates for switching back. This option is only available when Dynamic Input is activated.
Insert Hull Line dialog
The Insert Hull Line dialog has three tabs:
- Definition: Set the type, line number and location of the hull line, and the hull group in which it will be drawn.
- Points: Draw a hull line in the graphical window by placing a series of points through which a hull line is faired.
- Relations: Create hull line relations.
Clicking OK applies all provided input in all tabs and closes the dialog. Clicking Apply applies all provided input in all tabs but does not close the dialog. Instead, a new hull line number is automatically generated and you can add another hull line using the previous specification as a starting point.
Preview – Performs a calculation of what the resulting 3D hull line will look like, and displays it in the graphical window. The preview check box remains selected until it is either cleared, or a property which affects the geometry of the 3D hull line is changed.
Hull Viewer – Performs a calculation of what the resulting 3D hull line will look like, and displays a preview in Hull Viewer. The line is displayed in X-Ray viewing mode. In addition, an extrusion surface based on the clipping area is added. It is displayed as a green surface with a depth equal to the depth values of the clipping area. For more information regarding the clipping area, see the help topic for the Definition tab. The Hull Viewer box remains selected until it is either cleared, or a property which affects the geometry of the 3D hull line is changed.
