Welding information

Welding information can be added to profiles, brackets and plates. Welding information, together with thickness, material type can be included in a weld report.

The welding information for a part consists of the welding code, bevel code, weld connection, welding length, welding method and throat height. A report layout which contains weld related data fields must be created and used to generate the report. See Report Layout.

The data fields for the welding information are as follows:

  • Welding code – Logistical data field Weldcode. This logistical field must be present in the logistical database.

  • Bevel code – Derived data field BevelCode

  • Weld Connection – Derived data field WeldConnect

  • Weld length – Derived data field WeldLength

  • Weld method – Derived data field WeldMethod

  • Throat height – Derived data field WeldThroat

Note that when the weld related derived data fields (more than one of them) is used, only those parts which have welding information will be present in the report.

In some cases more than one line is associated with one plate, because of the welding code is connected to the bevel attribute type of the plate. A bracket or a profile always only has one line in the report.

Before the report can be made, weld code and throat height must be added to the construction database. In some cases this can be done automatically. See Automatic shrinkage compensation. In other cases this information is present or can be defined in the bevel function. See Bevels.
