Bevels

In CADMATIC Hull, beveling and welding functions are closely connected close to each other. Several files and settings must be set up and modified by the system administrator before users can use and extract information from the system to its full functionality. See Bevel Configuration Files.

After the system administrator has customized the configuration to suit their specific needs, users can add bevels to their construction. See Inserting and modifying bevels. See Bevel properties for predefined bevels more information about the types of bevels that can be applied.

Weld code information can be added manually, or to a certain level automatically. See Automatic shrinkage compensation.

Weld information can be used for a welding report or as information on parts and sketches. See Welding information.

Welds between parts

Welds placed between parts are based on the weld information contained in the bevel attribute.

A single weld is placed between parts that have a planar connection. For the weld, the system considers the bevel attributes of the two parts. Weld information is taken from the bevel attribute which is the more complex one.

Weld Codes

Weld codes have a key function in controlling the bevel information for plate contours, and in defining the weld type for the side of the profile that is connected to the plate. See Weld Codes for more information.

The bevel information for the end types of a profile can be defined by using a special end type definition or, more generally, by using the B+ function. In both cases only the bevel will be controlled by the system, and the welding information of the end types will not be present in reports or other Production Information.

Differences Between Plates and Profiles

One of the main differences between the bevel information of plates and the bevel information profiles is in their presentation on drawings. The representation of the bevel information (this side or other side) on the plate will be always presented in the viewing direction. For profiles the bevel information is always connected to the thickness direction of the profile.

Settings

Correct settings must be made for the bevel functions. These settings can be set in the System Management application, and in some cases in separate norms files. It is important to make the settings for all the three main function groups: Construction, Presentation and Production Information.

Construction

For Construction, the settings can be found in System Management > Construction > Welds/Bevels. See Welds/Bevels. Making these settings saves time in bevel creation, as the values do not have to be configured each time separately.

Presentation

The position and size of text and symbols in drawings can be specified in System Management > Presentation > Bevel.

Production Information

The position and size of text and symbols in sketches for production, as well as robot data, can be specified in System Management > Production > Plate Cutting Data > Bevel. Bevel codes for Nestix, for example, can be specified in System Management > Production > Plate Cutting Data > Bevel > Settings , Bevel Codes Nestix.
