Block Arrangement dialog

The Block Arrangement dialog displays the sets/blocks that have been defined, with their properties. Various functions are available here. Once you have made the setup for calculations, you also perform the calculations in this dialog. See Setting up calculations and Performing calculations.

  • The toolbar at the top contains various options and functions (A).
  • The information area in the middle shows the defined sets/blocks with their properties (B). To view the contents of a set, click the expand sign to the left of the set you wish to view (arrow).
  • At the bottom there are buttons for adding, modifying, moving, and deleting sets and blocks (C). Sets cannot be moved, and blocks cannot be modified with the buttons.

Toolbar Functions

  • Show Defined Blocks. Show all blocks belonging to sets that are selected in the graphical window. Each set has its unique color.
  • Show Calculated Blocks. Show only the calculated blocks. The color depends on the weight class.
  • Hide Blocks. Hide all blocks from the graphical window.
  • Display Block Information. When this function is selected (indicated by a darker blue color ), the Block Information panel is shown in the main screen when a block is selected in the graphical window or in the block list of the Block Arrangement dialog. Click the toolbar icon to close the information panel.
  • Colours. Opens the Pen versus Weight dialog to adjust the colors of the weight ranges in the block presentation in the graphical window, and also the color picture in the Weight column. The weight column has to be in increasing order. Each row connects a pen to a maximum weight. The first row defines the pen belonging to all block which have a weight smaller than the weight in the list.
  • Base Blocks. Define the base blocks used by the calculation of the flexi weight blocks. A project can already exist of more than one block.
  • Choose Virtual Block(s). Select the virtual blocks to be used.
  • Calculate Flexi Weight. Calculate the weight and COG using the current selections.
  • Reset Based On Column. Reset the Based On column.
  • Flexi Weight Blocks. Use the flexi weight blocks in the calculations. This is the default setting.
  • Existing Blocks. Use the real blocks for the calculations. No sets can be defined, and no base blocks need to be defined. Only the blocks and/or groups you want to calculate. The graphical window shows the block sizes and properties of the real blocks.
  • Save as CSV. Save the calculation to a .csv file.
  • Export to Building Block Overview. Export the predefined sets to Building Block Overview. In distributed projects, Hull block objects are created for new blocks and modifications are applied to the existing Hull block objects after a successful export.

Function buttons

Add: When you select a block and press Add, a copy of the block is made and shown directly below the selected block. The block number and its limitations (Min. Length, Max. length, and so on) can be modified by selecting the field and then entering a new value. If the block number is modified, the system checks if the number already exists. Note that the block names should be unique, or the topmost block will be used as the reference with other blocks.

Move to: To move a block to another set, select the block, select the set from the drop-down list, and click Move to.

Modify set: Modify a set. Re-define the sets/blocks. Opens the Define Main Borders dialog. See Defining sets/blocks.

Delete: To remove a block from the list, select it, and click Delete. A complete set can be removed in a similar way: Select a set, and click Delete.

The Define Main Borders dialog is shown when you select a set from the list and click Add or Modify set. After closing the Define Main Borders dialog, the Block Arrangement dialog is shown again.
